AAU Modules: Engineering Systems (Scientific Communication) 2022/2023 ## Overview of the Module The purpose of this module is to enable students to communicate scientific problems in writing and orally to both specialist and non-specialist audiences, based on a selected engineering problem in one of the core topics of the master program. This is achieved by requiring students to prepare a scientific paper in which they formulate and explain scientific hypotheses and results achieved through scientific work. The main contribution and conclusion of the work must then be summarized in a scientific poster and presented orally in a 15-minute conference presentation. ### Learning Objectives #### Knowledge - The student should have knowledge about the scientific communication processes related to conference presentations and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals. - How to organize a scientific publication. - Details of an engineering problem in one of the core topics of the master program. #### Skills - Can explain the process of and criteria for peer-reviewed scientific communication. - Can identify new results from analyzing a selected engineering problem and contextualize these in relation to the state of the art in the field. - Can disseminate the outcome of analyzing a selected engineering problem in the form of a scientific conference/journal, poster, and oral presentation. #### Competences - Must be able to analyze a selected engineering problem in one of the core topics of the master program to identify new knowledge and/or solutions, and to disseminate the result in scientific form. ### Type of Instruction As described in ァ17. ## Exam ### Exams - Name of exam: Engineering Systems (Scientific Communication) - Type of exam: Oral exam based on a project, oral exam based on a scientific paper and poster. - ECTS: 20 - Assessment: 7-point grading scale - Type of grading: Internal examination - Criteria of assessment: The criteria of assessment are stated in the Examination Policies and Procedures. ## Facts about the Module - Danish title: Ingenisystemer (Videnskabelig kommunikation) - Module code: ESNESK3P1 - Module type: Project - Duration: 1 semester - Semester: Autumn - ECTS: 20 - Language of instruction: English - Empty-place Scheme: Yes - Location of the lecture: Campus Aalborg - Responsible for the module: Tatiana Kozlova Madsen - Used in: Curriculum for the Master's Programme in Electronic Systems, 2022. ## Organisation - Study Board: Study Board of Electronics and IT - Department: Department of Electronic Systems - Faculty: The Technical Faculty of IT and Design. ## Search in Modules Search for specific modules or programs within the university's offerings. ## Related Links - AAU Educations - AAU Studylines - AAU Modules Copy links for linking to this course description.
