Introduction to the Sculpture and Technology Module
The Sculpture and Technology module is designed to introduce students to fundamental theories and practical methods in the creation of sculptures and sculptural installations, as well as the design of physical artifacts as aesthetic manifestations. With a focus on materiality, students will explore basic principles of form, tactility, structure, composition, and artistic expression.
Module Content, Progression, and Pedagogy
In this module, students will work with various materials and basic technologies in connection with the design and creation of physical artifacts. They will experiment with different materials and technologies, exploring formal, static, and dynamic principles and usage situations. The module covers subjects such as:
- Skulptur og teknologi (Sculpture and Technology)
- Kunstnerisk og videnskabelig metode I (Artistic and Scientific Method I)

Learning Objectives
Knowledge
The objective of the "Skulptur og teknologi" module is to present the student with basic problem areas and solutions in connection with the creation and construction of artifacts, products, and installations of sculptural and aesthetic quality. Students will gain basic knowledge about:
- Fysiske artefakter, skulpturer og skulpturelle installationer (Physical Artifacts, Sculptures, and Sculptural Installations)
- Anvendelse af grundlæggende teknologier (Application of Basic Technologies)
- Æstetiske og kunstneriske udtryksformer (Aesthetic and Artistic Expressions)
- Metoder og værktøjer til udarbejdelse af et kunstprojekt (Methods and Tools for Art Project Development)
Skills
Students will acquire skills in:
- Identifying, formulating, and analyzing an artistic problem within the theme of "skulptur og teknologi" (sculpture and technology)
- Describing and justifying method choices in connection with the creation of drawings, models, and prototypes
- Identifying, developing, and describing artistic ideas and concepts
- Applying suitable technologies and construction methods in connection with the production of artifacts
Competencies
Students will develop competencies in:
- Describing and analyzing physical artifacts, sculptures, and sculptural products
- Developing conceptual proposals within sculpture and technology
- Developing practical skills in designing and realizing artistic projects
- Using texts, diagrams, drawings, and models as documentation and communication tools
Teaching Methods
The module will utilize project work in groups as its primary teaching method.
