Program Overview


Introduction to the Concept Design Module

The Concept Design module focuses on processes within concept development relevant to art and technology or experience technology development projects. This module emphasizes artistic methods, such as artistic-experimental creativity, and methods within interaction design, design thinking, and similar tools in concept development processes. Additionally, it introduces presentation techniques for conveying concepts of art and experience technology to peers and partners.


Module Content, Progression, and Pedagogy

The module covers various approaches to idea generation, creative methods, and design methods, as well as methods within artistic and experimental practice. It also explores qualitative methods for analyzing and understanding users, places, and their applications, and quantitative methods for the same purposes.

Knowledge

Upon completion of this module, students will have gained basic knowledge of:


  • Different approaches to idea generation, creative methods, and design methods, as well as methods within artistic and experimental practice.
  • Qualitative and quantitative methods for analyzing and understanding users, places, and their applications.

Students will acquire skills in:


  • Conceptualizing different forms of interactive or relational experiences.
  • Applying and combining various concept development methods.
  • Presenting artistic concepts to different audiences.
  • Testing concepts using qualitative and/or quantitative methods.

Students will develop competencies in:


  • Designing and planning interactive installations and/or location-based events.
  • Handling complexity in concept development processes.
  • Identifying their own learning needs and structuring their own learning regarding concept development.

The module involves individual work in relation to the subject's activities, with an emphasis on active participation in lectures and other subject-related activities.
