Program Details

Module Content, Progression, and Pedagogy

The module is conducted as a series of experiments with interactive installations targeted at specific user groups or audiences in defined spatial contexts. These can include public spaces, architectural frames, local environments, exhibition spaces, etc., where artistic installations are set up and tested to provide participants with various experiences, such as the creation of social relations, learning experiences, sensory and aesthetic experiences, action-reaction patterns, and more. Different interactive technologies are explored and applied to realize the semester project.

Courses Offered

In connection with the module, the following courses are offered:

  • Interaktionsrum i kunst og teknologi (Interaction Spaces in Art and Technology)
  • Kunstnerisk og videnskabelig metode IV (Artistic and Scientific Method IV)

  • Technologies that support interaction and active participation, targeted at specific user groups
  • Mechanical and electronic technologies that can be used to create experiences and interactions
  • Qualitative and quantitative methods and tools for handling auditory, tactile, and visual information to support participants' interaction with the installation
  • Problem analysis, problem formulation, and integrated problem-solving guided by actor or user involvement and empirical data collection at a basic level

Skills

Skills in:

  • Identifying and formulating an artistic problem statement within the theme "Interaktionsrum i kunst og teknologi," targeted at specific user groups or a specific audience
  • Analyzing the problem statement and developing alternative concepts for a defined problem within a defined context
  • Applying sound and other technologies in connection with the design of content for interactive installations and spaces
  • Identifying, developing, and describing the interplay between sound, light, and spatial effects, material selection, and technological solutions with the aim of achieving a clear aesthetic expression and promoting embodied interaction
  • Choosing suitable methods for the development of artifacts within the theme "Interaktionsrum i kunst og teknologi"
  • Conducting limited user involvement processes
  • Applying different types of empirical data collection for use in project work

Competences

Competences in:

  • Creating interactive spaces and installations
  • Applying empirical data collected through user involvement and other empirical data in project work
  • Applying interactive technologies, including control of media, light, and sound
  • Placing one's own artistic solutions in a context (in relation to modern, socio-cultural requirements and consequences, art-theoretical and aesthetic dimensions, etc.)
