Introduction to the History of Art and Technology I Module

The History of Art and Technology I module is designed to introduce students to the history of art and technology, with a special emphasis on prevailing theories and techniques in the areas of art experience and aesthetics.

Content, Progress, and Pedagogy of the Module

This module, in conjunction with History of Art and Technology II, provides students with examples of significant artists, artworks, and historic events in the history of art and technology. Through lectures, workshops, and seminars, students will explore problems related to the description and analysis of artworks.

Students will acquire basic knowledge in:

• The history of art and technology
• Aesthetic theories within the field of art and technology
• Central works of selected art periods and genres

Skills

Students will acquire skills in:

• Analyzing works of art
• Applying central concepts and analytical methods within the history of art and technology

Competences

Students will acquire competencies in:

• Comparing various works from selected art periods
• Applying central works from the history of art and technology as a framework for reflection and inspiration in relation to their own works
