Program Overview

Introduction to the Basic Electronic Systems Module

The Basic Electronic Systems module is a 15 ECTS project module offered as part of the Bachelor of Science Programme in Applied Industrial Electronics. This module focuses on providing students with a comprehensive understanding of simple basic electronic systems, including their design, analysis, and application.

Learning Objectives

The learning objectives of this module are categorized into knowledge, skills, and competences:

  • Knowledge: Students will have knowledge about simple basic electronic systems, be able to define and understand basic electronic system engineering terms, and comprehend the applied methods, theories, and models in electronics engineering.
  • Skills: Students will be able to define and analyze a subject in basic electronic systems, set up solutions to non-complicated electronic system problems, communicate project results coherently, analyze their personal learning process, and apply relevant electronic engineering terms.
  • Competences: Students will be able to identify problems in basic electronic systems, communicate results during project work, plan and reflect on their experience with project work and problem-solving techniques, apply methods and theories to analyze electronic engineering problems, and contribute to teamwork and cooperation.

Type of Instruction

The module includes project work with supervision, which may be supplemented by lectures, workshops, presentation seminars, consultant meetings, laboratory tests, and more. The project work is divided into two periods: P0 for problem definition and P1 for problem solving. The P0 period involves a problem analysis and formulation, resulting in a P0 document that includes a process analysis. This document is presented in a P0 status and presentation seminar.

Extent and Expected Workload

As a 15 ECTS module, the expected workload for the student is 450 hours. This includes both the P0 and P1 periods, with the P1 project report containing problem analysis, problem formulation, problem solution, analyses, results, discussion, and conclusion.

Exam

The exam for this module is an oral exam based on a project including process analysis. The project report and the student's ability to orally defend their work are assessed on a 7-point grading scale. The criteria for assessment are stated in the Examination Policies and Procedures.
