Program Overview
Introduction to the Master's Program in Engineering Psychology
The Master's program in Engineering Psychology at Aalborg University is a 2-year, research-based full-time study program. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of engineering psychology, including theories, methods, and practices.
Program Structure
The program is modular, with each module consisting of a combination of lectures, class instruction, project work, workshops, and problem-solving exercises. The program is divided into four semesters, with each semester focusing on specific areas of engineering psychology.
First Semester
In the first semester, students take the following modules:
- Underselse af subjektive indtryk (15 ECTS)
- Udvidet kognitionspsykologi (5 ECTS)
- Anvendt eksperimentalpsykologi og psykofysik (5 ECTS)
- Design af brugeroplevelsen for multi-modal interaktion (5 ECTS)
Second Semester
In the second semester, students take the following modules:
- Interaktion (15 ECTS)
- Anvendt kognitionspsykologi og eksperimentel socialpsykologi (5 ECTS)
- Two elective courses (10 ECTS)
Third Semester
In the third semester, students can choose from three different versions:
- Version A:
- Anvendt produkt- og designpsykologi (20 ECTS)
- Computergrafik programmering (5 ECTS)
- Maskinl誡ing (5 ECTS)
- Version B:
- Anvendt produkt- og designpsykologi (25 ECTS)
- One elective course (5 ECTS)
- Version C:
- Projektorienteret forl (30 ECTS)
Fourth Semester
In the fourth semester, students work on their Master's thesis (30 ECTS).
Elective Courses
Students can choose from the following elective courses:
- Billedbehandling og computervision (5 ECTS)
- Menneskets lydopfattelse og audio teknik (5 ECTS)
- Profilering i produkt- og designpsykologi (5 ECTS)
- Computergrafik programmering (5 ECTS)
- Maskinl誡ing (5 ECTS)
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, students must have a Bachelor's degree in Product and Design Psychology or a related field. Students with a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science from Aarhus University may also be admitted.
Language Requirements
The program is taught in Danish and English. Students must be able to read academic texts in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and English, and use reference works in other European languages.
Examination and Assessment
The program uses a combination of internal and external exams. Students are assessed on their performance in each module, and the final grade is based on a 7-point scale.
Competence Profile
The program aims to provide students with the following competencies:
- Broad knowledge of theories, methods, and practices in engineering psychology
- Ability to apply theoretical and methodological knowledge to solve complex problems
- Ability to communicate scientific knowledge and discuss professional and scientific problems with both peers and non-specialists
