English Minor Program

The English minor is a 13-hour program that consists of two core courses, one literature course, one writing or linguistics course, and one elective.

Program Requirements

• Two core courses (four hours)
  • ENG 303: Research Methods in English Studies (3 hours)
  • ENG 304: Research Methods Lab (1 hour)
• One literature course (three hours)
  • 300- or 400-Level Literature Course (3 hours)
• One writing or linguistics course (three hours)
  • 300- or 400-Level Writing or Linguistics Course (3 hours)
• One elective not used to fulfill any of the other categories (three hours)
  • 300- or 400-Level ENG Elective (3 hours)

The total hours required for the English minor program is 13 hours.

If you are a TEP elementary candidate seeking the English minor for the Middle School English endorsement, there may be differences in course work requirements for the English minor. It is recommended that you consult with your TEP academic advisors in the English Department and in the Teacher Education Department for more information.
