Environmental Sciences Program
The Environmental Sciences program at the University of Illinois Springfield offers a Master of Science degree. The program is available both on-campus and online.
Admissions Requirements
To be admitted to the Environmental Sciences program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.00
- Completion of a 300-level or higher ecology course with lab, with a grade of B or better
- Undergraduate or work background sufficient for advanced course work in environmental studies
- Academic essay following online guidelines
- Two informative letters of recommendation from professors or employers addressing applicant's academic ability, work ethic, and personal integrity
Additional Requirements for Online Program
For the online program, applicants must also:
- Have identified a faculty member who agrees to serve as a research advisor
Prerequisite Course Requirements
Applicants must have completed the following prerequisite courses:
- Eight credit hours of undergraduate courses in natural sciences
- Eight credit hours of undergraduate courses in social sciences
Departmental Admission Review
The ENS Graduate Admissions Committee reviews applications for admission to the program.
Conditional Admits and Appeal Process
The program does offer conditional admits, but does not have an appeal process for denied applications.
