Program Overview


University Program Information

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) announces the commencement of a new academic year for the Postgraduate Program in "Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Psychiatry" for the academic year 2026.


Program Description

The program aims to provide high-level postgraduate education in the scientific field of mental health and psychiatry of children, adolescents, and their families. The program's curriculum includes:


  • Normal development of children and adolescents aged 0-18 in biological, cognitive, psychosocial, and social areas
  • Deviations from normal development and health in the above areas
  • Detection, diagnostic evaluation, management, and therapeutic treatment of mental health disorders in children and adolescents
  • Design, monitoring, and evaluation of therapeutic approaches to mental disorders in children and adolescents
  • Research methodology (including ethics and research deontology) and general study in child and adolescent mental health and psychiatry
  • Education and training in the study, presentation, and writing of scientific articles and papers

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold a degree from a recognized institution in one of the following fields:


  • Medicine
  • Psychology
  • Special Education
  • Social Work
  • Nursing
  • Public and Community Health
  • Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy

Application Procedure

Interested applicants must submit their application package, including:


  1. Application form
  2. Full CV
  3. Copy of degree certificate (recognized by the Greek authorities)
  4. Copy of transcript
  5. Brief statement outlining reasons for applying to the program
  6. Two letters of recommendation
  7. Certificate of English language proficiency (at least B2 level)
  8. Certificate of basic computer skills
  9. Copy of ID card
  10. Copy of any relevant postgraduate degree
  11. Copies of scientific papers, publications, or conference presentations (if applicable)
  12. Proof of scientific or professional experience related to the program (if applicable)
  13. Sworn statement (as per Law 1599/86)

Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages:


  1. Evaluation of application packages based on submitted documents
  2. Written assignment on a topic related to the program
  3. Personal interview and presentation of the written assignment

Program Duration and Fees

The program lasts two years, with a total of 120 ECTS credits required for completion. The tuition fee is 2,000 euros per year, payable in two installments.


Additional Information

The program is taught in Greek, and classes are held at the University's premises in Athens. The program starts in February 2026, and the application period is from October 1, 2025, to October 26, 2025.
