Program Overview
Mainz Mini-Course-Program
The Mainz Mini-Course-Program (MMP) was launched in September 2007 at the Faculty of Law (Fachbereich 03). This program offers short courses in English, taught by renowned guest professors from foreign universities. The program is organized by Prof. Dr. Peter Huber.
Program Description
The courses are designed to provide students with the opportunity to acquire the required "language certificate" (Sprachschein) and to expand their legal knowledge through international and comparative perspectives. The mini-courses are usually offered in a blocked format, often during semester breaks, and are completed with a written exam (E-Klausur). Only students who have regularly attended the course can participate in the exam.
Course Offerings
In addition to the mini-courses, members of the faculty and lecturers offer English-language courses that allow students to acquire the language certificate. The International Office of the faculty also offers language courses.
Short Info in English
The Mainz Minicourses are short introductory courses taught in English by eminent visiting professors from foreign universities or practitioners. The topics cover a variety of legal issues, providing insight into a specific area of a foreign legal system or comparative and international aspects of certain legal transactions. The Minicourses aim to enrich students' experience by introducing them to foreign legal systems or comparative law and to give students the opportunity to satisfy the 'one course taught in a foreign language' requirement for admission to the final examinations in law.
