Music - Sound Art Composition (master student certificate)

The Music - Sound Art Composition (Meistersch³lerbrief) program is a postgraduate course of study offered by the Hochschule f³r Musik Mainz.

Program Details

• Total scope: 120 credit points (LP), 12 SWS
• Admission requirements:
  • A completed degree in a relevant field (artistic studies in sound art composition or a related field) from a university, music academy, art academy, or equivalent institution in Germany or abroad.
  • Aptitude test
• Graduation: Master student certificate
• Study objective: The program aims to equip students with masterful artistic skills, an independent artistic expression, professional concept and realization development, and the ability to pursue a career as a sound artist/composer in a professional environment.
• Study structure: The program culminates in a public final examination in the 4th semester.
• Study content: The program includes courses in sound art composition (sound art/composition) and colloquium sound art composition (colloquium in sound art/composition).
• Pr³fung: The final examination consists of a public presentation (exhibition, concert, performance, etc.) of an artistic work or project.

Requirements in the aptitude test

The aptitude test is conducted in the form of an interview, typically lasting 30-45 minutes. The interview assesses the applicant's artistic skills, motivation, and suitability for the program. Applicants are required to present their previous artistic work and discuss their artistic background, interests, and expectations.
