Introduction to the Certificate Program
The Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz offers a certificate program in Event Management in Science and Research. This program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to plan, organize, and execute scientific events.

Qualification Goals/Competencies
After completing the study program, students will possess:
- Knowledge of relevant formats for university events in science and research, as well as their target groups
- Basic knowledge in project management and science communication
- The ability to:
- Collaboratively develop a theme for an event in an international team
- Plan and organize a university event independently
- Conceive and implement suitable event marketing
- Choose and implement a suitable format for event documentation and/or publication
- Reflect on challenges that arise during event planning and implementation, and find and formulate solution approaches
- Practical experience in oral and written project communication in English/Academic English
- Practical experience with various tasks in the context of a scientific event
Structure of the Certificate
In addition to theoretical introductions to various event and publication formats, as well as the basics of project management, participants plan their own event and work through all the steps necessary for its implementation, from the initial idea to the final follow-up.

Application and Admission
The certificate can be started in the winter and summer semesters. The application is possible within the following deadlines:
- Winter semester: May 16th to September 1st
- Summer semester: November 18th to March 1st Application is also possible during the application phase for a regular study program at JGU. The prerequisite for participation is enrollment by the start of the semester.
