Course Description

The course Wirtschaftsinformatik I: Entwicklung von betrieblichen Informationssystemen (Business Information Systems: Development of Business Information Systems) is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the development and selection of application systems in businesses. The course focuses on the fundamental concepts and instruments necessary for the development of web-based application systems.

Course Content

The course covers important concepts such as:

• Vorgehensmodelle (process models) that define how application software should be developed from a management perspective
• Datenmodelle (data models) that describe the data processed and stored in application systems
• Prozessmodelle (process models) that define the business processes that can be triggered by users of the application systems

Target Audience

The course is specifically designed for business students and aims to enable them to better understand and manage the development and selection of application systems in businesses. No prior knowledge of computer science beyond the basics of EDV (data processing) is required.

Course Structure

The course consists of a lecture and an exercise session. In the exercise session, students work in groups to develop a web-based application system under the supervision of the instructor. All necessary knowledge and skills for the development of the application system are conveyed during the lecture and exercise sessions.
