Program Overview
Introduction to the Deutsch-Französischer Doppelmaster Program
The Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, in collaboration with the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, offers a unique double master's degree program in Fach- und Medienübersetzen (Specialized and Media Translation). This program allows students to earn two master's degrees from both universities.
Program Overview
The double master's program is designed to be completed within a standard study period of four semesters. It involves alternating periods of attendance at both institutions, with students spending winter semesters at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon and summer semesters at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. Students can apply for ERASMUS funding to support their stay in Dijon.
Study Requirements
The program combines course offerings from both master's programs, and students must complete the requirements of both programs according to the respective study and examination regulations. The credits earned at the partner institution are recognized by the other university, allowing students to graduate with two master's degrees.
Funding Opportunities
Since the academic year 2021/2022, the program has been officially supported by the Deutsch-Französische-Hochschule. Participants receive an additional monthly grant of 300 euros during their stay in Dijon, on top of their ERASMUS scholarship.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the double master's program, students must meet the admission requirements of both institutions. They should have excellent French language skills and experience in the French higher education system. Additionally, students must study one of the languages offered at the Université de Bourgogne, such as English, Italian, or Spanish. Proficiency in English is also required, as some courses in the T2M master's program are taught in English.
Application Process
Applicants must first apply for the Master's program in Translation at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz and express their interest in the double master's program. If the formal requirements are met, applicants are invited to participate in a selection process, which assesses their language and translation skills, as well as their motivation. The available places are then awarded based on suitability.
