Program Overview
Intensivkurs Galicisch
The Intensivkurs Galicisch is a two-week course that takes place every spring, allowing interested individuals to learn Galician without prior knowledge.
Termin and Veranstaltungszeiten
The course will be held from March 4th to March 20th, 2026, with classes taking place from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (including breaks).
Veranstaltungsort
The course will be held in Room 103 of the Seminar Building at the Augustusplatz campus, Universit酹sstra絽 5. For those who can only participate online, please inform Galicischlektor Pablo Regueira Pi鎑iro during registration.

Ziel and Inhalt
The Intensivkurs Galicisch aims to provide participants with language skills at the A1 GER level, fulfilling the requirements for participating in the Sprachkompetenzmodulen Niveau II in the summer semester 2026. The course focuses on the systematic acquisition of syntactic and morphological structures of the Galician language, combined with intensive self-study to quickly expand language skills. The two-week course consists of two parts: a Galician language course and an introduction to the history and sociolinguistics of the Galician language. Prior knowledge of the Galician language is not required, but knowledge of other Romance languages is beneficial.
Teilnahme and Anmeldung
For students of the University of Leipzig, the course is free of charge. Students from other universities can also participate free of charge as part of a guest auditorium. For non-students, a guest auditor fee of 80 euros applies. The number of participants is limited to 30.
Registration takes place during the registration phase for elective modules and key qualifications (September 29th, 2025, 12:00 PM - October 6th, 2025, 5:00 PM). If the registration deadline is missed, please fill out the form for late module registration and send it signed by email to the IALT secretariat.
Students of the University of Leipzig can choose the following modules for the Intensivkurs:
- Wahlbereich der Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften: 04-ALT-1001-G Sprachkompetenz L3 Sprache: Galicisch Niveau I (10 LP)
- Bachelorstudiengang B. A. Translation: 04-ALT-1001-G Sprachkompetenz L3 Sprache: Galicisch Niveau I, Erg鄚zungsfach III Sprachkompetenz C-Sprache Galicisch I, or as a module in the elective area
- Masterstudieng鄚ge M. A. Konferenzdolmetschen and M. A. Translatologie: 04-ALT-1001-G Sprachkompetenz L3-Sprache: Galicisch Niveau I
Galicisch lernen in Galicien
In cooperation with the Galician regional government (Xunta de Galicia), scholarships can be awarded for participation in a one-month summer school in July in Galicia. The courses are aimed at beginners and advanced learners and are accompanied by numerous cultural activities and excursions through Galicia, allowing participants to get to know life in Galicia up close and deepen their language and cultural knowledge.
