Program Overview
The physics teacher training at secondary schools program is designed to prepare students for their future role as physics teachers at secondary schools. The program provides students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and methods for scientific work, independent thinking, and responsible action.
Program Structure
The program consists of several modules, including:
- Experimental Physics (EP1-EP5)
- Theoretical Physics (TP1-TP3)
- Physics Education (subject didactics 1-4)
- School Practice
- Optional modules (compulsory elective placeholder)
Modules
The program includes the following modules: 1st semester | EP1 mechanics 2nd semester | EP2 Electrodynamics 3rd semester | EP3 Optics and Thermodynamics 4th semester | EP4 Quantum Optics and Atomic Physics 5th semester | TP 1 Theoretical mechanics and mathematical methods 6th semester | TP 2 Electro and magnetostatics and mathematical methods 7th semester | Subject didactics 1 Basics of physics didactics 8th semester | Subject didactics 2 Basics of teaching physics
Optional modules
Students can choose from the following optional modules:
- 12-PHY-BW3SU1 | Superconductivity I
- 12-PHY-L-C | Basics of chemistry
- 12-PHY-L-TP4-A | Theoretical Physics 4 Quantum and Relativity Theory
- 12-PHY-L-WAS | Astrophysics and school astronomy
- 12-PHY-L-WAP | Teaching-related areas of applied physics
- 12-PHY-L-DMP | Teaching and learning with digital media in a physical context
Final Examination
The program concludes with a final examination, which includes a scientific paper on a topic related to physics or physics education.
Career Prospects
The successful completion of the program and the First State Examination is a prerequisite for the admission to the preparatory service for the teaching profession at secondary schools. This service lasts 18 months and concludes with the Second State Examination.
