Program Overview
Introduction to the University Program
The university program is a collaborative effort between Vanderbilt and Leipzig Universities, established over the last 15 years. This program facilitates scientific exchanges of students, postdocs, and Project Leaders for extended periods to conduct research, learn new methods, and teach scientific courses.
Program Details
The program has involved:
- 61 undergraduate students
- 46 graduate students
- 22 postdoctoral researchers
- 78 Project Leaders These participants have contributed to 90 cooperative scientific papers and 63 teaching modules taught by Project Leaders at the respective partner university.
Program Requirements
The graduate students and postdocs in the CRC are required to undergo a 2 weeks to 6-month lab rotation in a group of the partner university on either side of the Atlantic. To participate, students must:
- Find a suitable lab among the labs within the CRC or from the Vanderbilt University
- Create a short description of the project
- Include their CV
- Obtain an invitation letter from the receiving lab The decision on the proposal is made by the board.
Research and Collaboration
International exchange is a normal mode of successful research in the 21st century. The program emphasizes the importance of scientific collaborations between universities, involving all academic levels and resulting in significant research output.
