Elite Athlete Program
La Trobe University offers an Elite Athlete Program (LEAP) to support elite athlete students in combining their academic and sporting pursuits.
Eligibility
To be eligible for LEAP, students must be actively competing, head coaching, or refereeing in an eligible sport and level of competition/event.
- National level of competition in a sport recognized and funded by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).
- International level of competition in a sport recognized and funded by the ASC.
- State or semi-professional program aligned with a formal La Trobe University sport industry partnership.
- Competition/events must be endorsed by the relevant State or National Sporting Organisation.
- Elite performers involved in national or international productions/events are eligible to apply.
How to Apply
To apply for LEAP, students must:
- Check their eligibility.
- Fill out the online application form.
- Submit their completed form online, along with supporting documentation.
Elite Athlete VTAC Adjustment Factor
La Trobe University offers an elite athlete VTAC adjustment factor to recognize the unique needs of student-athletes who compete in elite sport while studying.
- Eligible elite athletes may have a five aggregate point adjustment factor applied towards their admission to La Trobe.
- The scheme is only available to domestic undergraduate applicants who meet the eligibility criteria as an elite athlete, apply for their chosen La Trobe University courses through VTAC, and can demonstrate that their elite sport commitments have impacted on their previous studies.
