Program Overview
Introduction to the Animal User Training Program
The Animal User Training Program, coordinated by Animal Care Services (ACS), is designed to ensure that individuals involved in the care and use of animals for research or teaching at the University are well-trained in ethical practices, regulatory requirements, proper handling, and practical skills necessary to competently perform animal-based tasks.
Program Components
The program includes:
- Compulsory Online Core Modules
- Animal Facility Orientations
- Hands-on Animal Training
Training Delivery and Resources
Training is delivered by animal facility staff, qualified instructors, and veterinarians, accompanied by resources available on a learning platform. Training requirements are assigned based on an approved Animal Utilization Protocol (AUP) procedures.
Completion Requirements
Completion of the compulsory online Core Modules is required before beginning any animal work.
Program Objective
The objective of the Animal User Training Program is to provide individuals with the necessary training to ensure the ethical and competent care and use of animals in research and teaching.
