Introduction to the Turfgrass Systems Management Certificate

The Turfgrass Systems Management Certificate is scheduled to launch in September 2026. This certificate program offers a unique opportunity for individuals who have completed certain courses within the Maintaining Golf Course Certificate program to apply their credits towards the new Turfgrass Systems Management Certificate.

Program Requirements

To fulfill the requirements for the Turfgrass Systems Management Certificate, students must complete five required courses. Individuals who have successfully completed one to four Maintaining Golf Course Certificate courses as of December 31, 2025, can apply most of those courses to the new Turfgrass Systems Management Certificate.

New Turfgrass Systems Management Certificate Courses

The following courses are available starting September 2026:

• Turf Management: Complete the Turf Management course.
• Weed Management: Complete the Weed Management course.
• Irrigation: Complete the Irrigation course.
• Insect Pest Management in Turfgrass Systems: This course is required for students who have not completed the Arboriculture course.
• Disease Management in Turfgrass Systems: This course is required for students who have not completed the Environmental Management of the Golf Course course.

Transition Period and Important Dates

• Transition Period Start Date: December 31, 2025
• Maintaining Golf Courses Certificate Application Deadline: December 31, 2026

Eligibility and Application

Students who have not successfully completed any required courses within the Maintaining Golf Courses Certificate prior to December 31, 2025, may begin their studies in the new Turfgrass Systems Management Certificate program starting September 2026. Courses that are not eligible for transfer include:

• Arboriculture
• Environmental Management of the Golf Course
• Golf Course Design and Construction

These students will need to complete the new courses offered in the Turfgrass Systems Management Certificate program to fulfill the requirements.
