Introduction to the Integrated Admission Pathway

The Integrated Admission Pathway is designed for students who want to begin taking university degree-credit courses while they are still improving their English proficiency. This pathway provides a flexible option for admission to various degree programs at the University of Guelph.

About the Integrated Admission Pathway

The Integrated Admission Pathway combines English language courses and selected degree-credit courses, providing students with an integrated learning experience within a supported environment. Successful completion of the program meets the English proficiency requirements for the University of Guelph.

Eligible Degree Programs

The Integrated Admission Pathway provides a flexible option for admission to the following degree programs:

• Bachelor of Arts
• Bachelor of Bio-Resource Management
• Bachelor of Commerce (undeclared)
• Bachelor of Mathematics
• Bachelor of Science
• Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences

How it Works

Students complete five courses (5 x 0.5 credits) towards their degree in just three semesters, while studying English language courses. Then, they begin their full-time degree program.

Program Structure

The program is structured as follows:

• English language courses
• 1 x 0.5 credit course (first semester)
• English language courses
• 2 x 0.5 credit courses (second semester)
• English language courses
• 2 x 0.5 credit courses (third semester)
• Begin full-time degree program study

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the Integrated Admission Pathway, students must meet the following requirements:

• A minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
• Strong academic transcripts

• Application Deadline with Campus Residence: Friday, June 6, 2025
• Final Application Deadline: Thursday, June 26, 2025
• Orientation: Monday, June 30 to Friday, August 22, 2025

Refund Policy

Experiential Learning

Experiential learning opportunities are an important component of language development and are available to students in the Integrated Admission Pathway. These opportunities include volunteer work, field trips, and activities that allow for the application of language in a variety of professional, cultural, and social settings.

Conversation Peers

Conversation peers are University of Guelph student volunteers who help English Language Programs (ELP) students improve their English conversation skills and social and cultural knowledge.

Writing Support Group and Supported Learning Groups

To ensure that students are supported throughout their pathway experiences, they have access to Supported Learning Groups (SLGs) that provide discipline-specific support. This includes a Writing Support Group and SLG meetings that are offered on campus for undergraduate students.

Guaranteed Admission

Students who complete the Integrated Admission Pathway receive a letter of guaranteed admission to a degree program, conditional upon meeting all undergraduate admission requirements with the exception of the language proficiency score.

Successful Completion of the Pathway

Successful completion of the Integrated Admission Pathway requires:

• Completion of English language courses with an overall average of 75% and no course average below 70%, which earns the Certificate of English Proficiency, meeting the University's English proficiency requirements
• Successful completion of all credit courses with a minimum 60% cumulative grade

Athletics and Recreation

All registered full-time students are provided with a basic membership to the Athletic Centre, which allows them to participate in drop-in recreation activities.

Monthly Bus Pass

Students receive a monthly bus pass that provides unlimited access to local transit.

Medical Insurance

All students must have medical insurance during their studies at the University of Guelph. English Language Programs provides medical insurance through GuardME Canada.

Library Access

Students receive a University of Guelph library card, giving them access to the University of Guelph database and collections.
