Program Overview


Program Overview

The Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management (Honours) is a one-year full-time (or equivalent part-time) program that allows students to further develop their specific area of interest and is a pathway into Research Higher Degree study. The program consists of 80 units of advanced theory, higher-level learning, and research.


Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, graduates will have:


  1. Demonstrated independence and critical thinking by formulating a research or capstone project to investigate a current topic or issue in the field of environmental science and management.
  2. Planned and executed the research using appropriate scientific methodologies to collect, critically analyze, interpret, and synthesize findings and present those findings and their implications.
  3. Demonstrated professional interest and adaptability in an area of environmental science and management by preparing and presenting well-researched persuasive arguments to a variety of audiences.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility for admission to this program is based on applicants having completed a Bachelor degree in a cognate area with a minimum GPA of 5.0:


  • Across all studies undertaken within the program; or
    • Across a major in the proposed area of study; or
    • Across 80 units of 3000 level courses (which must include at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists); or
    • Where the applicant has completed less than 80 units at 3000 level, a GPA of 5.0 calculated from at least 60 units of 3000 level courses (which includes at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists). In exceptional circumstances, an application which does not meet the above requirements may be considered.

  • Sub-test minimum: 6 All applicants must demonstrate that they meet the University's English proficiency requirement.
