Program Overview
The Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science (Honours) is a fourth-year program that consists of full-time study for one year or part-time study for two years. Courses are offered on a semester basis, with two semesters per year. The program includes a research project on a topic determined in consultation with a research supervisor and a skills development strand to assist in the development of research skills and the writing of a research thesis.

The Honours program is highly regarded by potential employers and provides entry into a research career. It is offered as an additional year to the undergraduate program and consists of a fourth year of full-time study or the equivalent part-time study.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, graduates will have:
- In-depth knowledge and skills appropriate to undertake further study and research in exercise and sport science
- Ability to develop, conduct, and manage a research project in exercise and sport science
- Ability to independently and critically analyse the results of research projects
- Ability to communicate a convincing and reasoned scientific argument at a level and style appropriate to the audience and to report scientific findings in an oral and/or written format
- Ability to work on an advanced scientific activity both autonomously and collaboratively
- Possess an understanding of and respect for the legal and ethical implications of professional Exercise and Sport Science practice in accordance with the charter and Code of Conduct of the AAESS and NHMRC guidelines
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for admission to this program is based on applicants having completed a Bachelor degree in a cognate area with a minimum GPA of 5.0. This can be:
- Across all studies undertaken within the program
- Across a major in the proposed area of study
- Across 80 units of 3000 level courses (which must include at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists)
- Where the applicant has completed less than 80 units at 3000 level, a GPA of 5.5 calculated from at least 60 units of 3000 level courses (which includes at least 40 units of 3000 level courses in the major where a major exists)
English Language Requirements
All applicants must demonstrate that they meet the University's English proficiency requirement. The overall minimum score is 6, and the sub-test minimum score is 6.
Program Based Credit Limits and Currency
Credit will not be awarded within end-on honours programs.
Program Requirements
The Honours program is normally undertaken over one year of full-time study or two years part-time. Students are required to complete 80 units.

Availability

- There are three classes of Honours: Class I, Class II, and Class III. Class II will have two divisions, namely Division 1 and Division 2.
