Program Overview
Workplace Learning (HIST*3480)
Details
HIST*3480 WORKPLACE LEARNING is an independent study course based on either History related voluntary or paid workplace experience. Students combine scholarly research and reflection with applied on-the-job experience. In Winter 2019, the History Department will offer a variety of workplace projects for the course. A detailed list of topics, along with course outlines, will be added as projects become available.
- McLaughlin Library Archives/CFRU Radio - Dr. Sofie Lachapelle
- "Miscreants and Rascals" Canadian Prison Records - Dr. Kris Inwood
- Blackthorn Productions Knights in the Twelfth Century - Dr. Susannah Ferreira
- Macdonald Institute Heritage Room Museum Exhibition - Dr. Lisa Cox
- Animals and the City Museum Exhibition - Dr. Lisa Cox
- Better Farming Magazine - Dr. Catharine Wilson
- Rural Diary Archive - Dr. Catharine Wilson
Method of Evaluation
Evaluation will be based on assignments relating to work duties. These will usually be in the form of a weekly journal, and a major project relating to some specific aspect of the work experience. Students interested in this option must have their project approved by the department prior to the semester in which they plan to engage in their work experience. Students will then be assigned to a faculty supervisor who will oversee the project.
