Diploma in Applied Statistics

The Diploma in Applied Statistics is a program offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, which seeks to give students technical competency in the use and application of Statistics.


Building Your Statistics Foundation

The program is intended mainly for those whose primary area of expertise is not in Statistics, but who feel the need to be able to use modern statistical techniques. This program seeks to fill a need for researchers to reach a useful level of competency in the use of statistical methodology.


The Diploma in Applied Statistics will be counted as equivalent to a Minor in Statistics for the purposes of application to graduate studies.

Admission and application to the Diploma in Applied Statistics depend on your current status:


  • University of Guelph graduates: Apply using the University of Guelph Internal Transfers and Readmission pathway.
  • Current University of Guelph students: You are encouraged to instead complete a Minor in Statistics.
  • Science Degree Holders from Other Institutions: Apply as a Non-Degree student.
  • Non-Science Degree Holders from Other Institutions: Apply using the Post-Degree Applicant Honour's Equivalency pathway.
