Program Overview
Government, Economics and Management Co-op Program
The Government, Economics and Management program is designed to lead to an understanding of public sector administration and management from the inside as an integrated enterprise, as well as from the outside, as a series of policy decisions and outcomes. Characterized by a multi-disciplinary approach by employing both political and business-oriented analysis, students will confront questions of why politicians and public servants behave the way they do, and how their policy choices and processes may be optimized. The core business curriculum is supplemented by specific emphasis on public policy & administration, in addition to business-government relations. Recent issues addressed in the program include democratic accountability, morale and ethics in the public sector and equality and justice in decision-making. Upon completion of the Government, Economics, and Management major, students are well positioned to compete for exciting and diverse career opportunities within the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Students receive a well-rounded, broad-based knowledge of government and public sector functions, suitable for continuing in several areas including business, politics and law. Our co-op process responds to employer needs, allowing them to post, hire and interview throughout the semester, with students available
