Program Overview

The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop developed by LivingWorks. This program teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.

Target Audience

The ASIST program is recommended for individuals who are not mental health professionals but are expected to have professional competency in understanding and monitoring situations where mental health forms an important component of dynamics. Examples of such individuals include:

• Staff in Occupational Health and Wellness
• Health Services
• Residence Life Managers
• Campus Safety Office
  • Those who work outside of normal business hours and may need to deal with a crisis situation without available professional support
