Program Overview
The Promoting Awareness of Girls in Engineering and Science (P.A.G.E.S.) program is part of Actua, Canada's largest STEM outreach network. The program aims to create barrier-free opportunities for underrepresented youth in STEM, empowering girls to explore fields like engineering and computer science.
Program Details
The P.A.G.E.S. program offers various camps for girls in different grade levels, including:
- Mini-Makers Lab (Gr. 2-3) July 20-24
- Tech Quest (Gr. 4-5) July 13-17
- Chem Quest (Gr. 6-8) August 10-14
- Future Engineers (Gr. 6-8) July 27-31
- Game Design (Gr. 6-8) August 17-21
Program Activities
As part of the Thursday programming, participants enjoy special activities, including:
- A late-day pizza party at 4 p.m. for Grades 2-3 participants
- An evening pizza "dinner" and extended activities for older participants in Grades 4-5 and 6-8, with programming running until 8 p.m.
Awards and Recognition
The Creative Encounters at the University of Guelph has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Actua Experience Award National Girls Program, recognizing its sustained commitment to engaging girls and gender-diverse youth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The national award highlights excellence among Actua network members whose programs support underrepresented youth and foster inclusive, skills-based learning environments.
