Program Overview
Introduction to the Program
The Course of Public Management for Economic and Social Development (GPDES) aims to form, in an interdisciplinary conception, Public Managers capable of elaborating, implementing, managing, monitoring, and evaluating policies, plans, programs, and projects of economic and social development at different scales, whether in government agencies or non-governmental organizations that is, in the Public Sector and the Third Sector.
Program Structure
The Course was conceived to be completed by students in 8 semestres, with the following basic curricular structure:
- 32 obligatory disciplines, of Basic Formation, totaling 1,890 hours, or 126 credits;
- Optional disciplines of conditioned choice, distributed in three Axes of Professional Formation (Public Sector; Third Sector; Territorial Planning), totaling 300 hours, or 20 credits;
- Disciplines of Free Choice, totaling 180 hours or 12 credits;
- Complementary Activities, consisting of participation, throughout the course, in relevant scientific and academic events for formation, duly proven, in a total of 60 hours, or 1 credit;
- University Extension Activities, distributed in projects coordinated by teachers or administrative technicians of UFRJ, totaling 300 hours;
- Supervised Professional Internship, with a total of 180 hours, or 4 credits;
- Course Conclusion Work (TCC), with a total of 90 hours, or 2 credits;
Curriculum Requirements
Thus, the completion of the course will be done with 3,000 hours, or 165 credits. In this way, to be entitled to the degree and diploma, the student must fulfill:
