Introduction to the SupleNutri Course

The SupleNutri course, offered by the Instituto de Nutriçăo Josué de Castro at UFRJ, aims to promote knowledge of nutritional supplementation based on scientific and clinical evidence.


Course Objectives

  • The primary objective of the SupleNutri course is to update nutrition professionals in the prescription of food supplements.
  • The course focuses on providing a comprehensive understanding of nutritional supplementation in various contexts, including clinical, sports, and aesthetic practices.

Target Audience

  • The course is designed for nutritionists and students of nutrition from the 5th period onwards, registered with the MEC.
  • It is particularly relevant for those interested in deepening their knowledge of nutritional supplementation and its applications.

Course Structure and Content

  • The course consists of 168 hours, typically spread over 10 months, with classes held on Saturdays.
  • The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including:
    • Regulation for the prescription of food supplements and pharmaceutical forms applied to nutrition practice
    • Supplementation of micronutrients, bioactive compounds, and immunomodulators
    • Supplementation and diets during pregnancy and lactation
    • Supplementation for women's and elderly health
    • Nutritional supplementation for children and adolescents
    • Supplementation for vegetarians/vegans and similar diets
    • Metabolic integration and types of diets
    • Supplementation for muscle hypertrophy and performance
    • Food supplements applied to athletes
    • Supplementation in aesthetics
    • Intestinal microbiota and nutritional supplementation in dysbiosis and gastrointestinal diseases
    • Nutritional supplementation in food allergies and intolerances
    • Food supplements in weight loss, obesity, and bariatric surgery
    • Nutritional supplementation in malnutrition and eating disorders
    • Supplementation in diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular, renal, pulmonary, joint diseases, and cancer
    • Nutritional supplementation for people living with HIV
    • Discussion of clinical cases

Evaluation and Certification

  • The course includes an evaluation at the end of each semester, based on a discussion of clinical cases with the teaching team.
  • Upon completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion issued by the Instituto de Nutriçăo Josué de Castro UFRJ, specifying the course load and programming.

Documents Required for Registration

  • Photocopy of the diploma of graduation in Nutrition or a declaration from the faculty proving that the student is regularly enrolled in a Nutrition graduation course at any institution recognized by the MEC
  • Photocopy of identity card
  • Photocopy of CPF

Tuition Fees

  • The course is divided into 10 monthly installments of R$ 330.00, payable by bank slip.
  • A 10% discount is available for payments made in full.
  • Former students of INJC courses and specialization courses are eligible for a reduced monthly fee of R$ 297.00.
  • Students who indicate another student and both enroll together will also pay R$ 297.00 per month.

Course Schedule

  • The course starts in March 2025 and ends in February 2026, pending the achievement of a minimum number of enrolled students.
  • Classes are held on Saturdays, with two or three classes per month, and are transmitted live.
  • Recordings of the classes are available in a virtual study environment for up to 2 months after the course ends.
