The program focuses on Congenital Heart Disease in Pediatrics and in grown-up (GUCH) patients.


Aims and Content

Aims and Learning Outcomes

  • Knowledge of specific problems and peculiarities of congenital heart disease in pediatric and grown-up (GUCH) patients.
  • Knowledge of physiopathology of the most common congenital heart diseases.
  • Ability to analyze and understand the hemodynamic data for each congenital heart disease.

Teaching Methods

The program is based on 10 hours of lessons divided into 4 groups of 2.5 hours each, including frontal lessons, video presentations, case discussions, and question-and-answer sessions.

  • GUCH patients
  • The principal laws of hemodynamics and specific hemodynamic patterns.
  • The most common congenital heart diseases:
    • Atrial Septal Defects (and particularly Ostium Secundum)
    • Patent Foramen Ovale
    • Ventriculas Septal Defects (and particularly Perimembranous)
    • Aortic Coarctation
  • Case Discussion

Exams

Exam Description

Written test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 20 minutes.


Assessment Methods

The final test will verify the student's effective learning, with each correct answer scoring 3/30. To pass, a minimum score of 18/30 is required, corresponding to 6 correct answers out of 10. This assessment method impartially evaluates the student's:


  • Knowledge of specific problems and peculiarities of congenital heart disease in pediatric and grown-up (GUCH) patients.
  • Knowledge of physiopathology of the most common congenital heart diseases.
  • Ability to analyze and understand the hemodynamic data for each congenital heart disease.
