Program Overview

KINESIOLOGY

Overview

The course presents the fundamental principles on which the observation of human movement is based, which is studied in its various areas: physical-motor, intellectual-cognitive, social-relational.

Aims and Content

Aims and Learning Outcomes

Acquire knowledge of kinesiology of the head, trunk, upper and lower limbs - learn the main notions regarding postures and intermediate positions, postural passages, walking and gestural activities of the upper limb (grips, manipulations, reaching activities..)

Teaching Methods

Lectures, simulations, theoretical and practical exercises:

  • Students will also have the opportunity to attend laboratories and educational spaces to implement the analysis of movement, the main anatomical landmarks, carry out exercises on joint and muscle assessment and become operators and subjects themselves.
  • The lectures will be held in the 4 locations of the Degree Course by the respective appointed teachers.
  • The Student / Teacher numerical ratio allows a direct comparison between teacher and learner and the possibility of using collaborative teaching methodologies
  • Students with SLD, disability or other special educational needs certification are strongly encouraged to contact the teachers at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching methods which, respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory instruments

Syllabus/Content

  • Definition of kinesiology.
  • General Kinesiology:
    • Anatomical details with notions of topographic anatomy, anatomy on the living, main landmarks
    • Kinesiological terminology. Movement description: planes, axes and types of movement. Types of joints and degrees of freedom. Accessory movement concept. Types of muscles and their insertions.
    • Muscle concept: agonist, antagonist, synergist (types of synergies). Types of contraction: isometric, concentric and eccentric isotonic and isokinetic movement.
  • Special Kinesiology:
    • Kinesiology of the upper limb. Kinesiology of the lower limb. Kinesiology of the spine. Respiratory Kinesiology. Concept of posture and station. Standing station and variations. Sitting station, Supine-sitting passage, Sitting-standing passage, Walking. Ascent and descent of the stairs. Taken.
    • Biological purposes of the movement. Movement as a behavioral act, as exploration, as information taking and learning, as a relationship between two postures, as a non-verbal language.
