MARITIME TRANSPORT

Overview

The Maritime Transport course aims to provide basic knowledge about the characteristics of maritime transport of freights and people.


Aims and Content

Learning Outcomes

The course will provide the basic knowledge about ships and their life cycle, ship routes, port's characteristics and processes. It will introduce the main models and solutions for some freight terminal operations: berth's allocation, route planning, freight loading/unloading, and yard management.

After the course, the student shall know and shall be able to address the problems related to the various aspects of freight and people maritime transport.

  • Transportation System Engineering

Teaching Methods

The course lessons are held in a classroom, with the professor explaining topics using slides and, in some cases, a blackboard. Slides are made available to students on Aulaweb. Seminars by maritime transport experts could be included in the course.
