Objectives and Contents

Educational Objectives (Detail) and Learning Outcomes

The course aims to provide students with the technical-practical knowledge for:


  • Measuring vital parameters: TA, TR, TI, TO, PA, FC, and Respiro, and understanding their main characteristics and alterations.
  • Different types of hand washing.
  • Understanding the urinary system; diuresis, miction, and their alterations.
  • Knowing and being able to perform the main urinary exams and explaining the collection methods to users.
  • Correctly positioning sterile gloves.
  • Correctly positioning the indwelling catheter, performing the residual bladder, knowing the differences, and the correct methods of use.
  • Knowing and applying the rule of 7 G in therapy administration.
  • Knowing and correctly performing therapy for OS, IM, SC, etc.
  • Knowing, preparing, and performing endovenous therapy. Performing venous and capillary sampling, knowing the main exams (pre-operative, diagnostic, etc.) and execution procedures.

At the end of the course, the student will be able to execute the previously described procedures.


The student must be able to know the organization and access methods to the PAP-TEST service and perform it.


The student must be able to know the purposes and execution methods of: tampons, colposcopy (biopsy), hysteroscopy.


The student must be able to:


  • Know the organization of an IVG service and the competences of the midwife, the procedures for applying Law 194 within and after the 90th day.
  • Use DPI, perform correct waste disposal.
  • Identify the main gynecological pathologies.
  • Identify the methods of preparing the surgical/gynecological patient.
  • Know the checklist for safety in the operating room.
  • Control, medicate, remove surgical wound stitches.
  • Identify and collaborate in the main diagnostic procedures, know the types of ultrasound exams, and collaborate in assistance during the ultrasound exam.

The student must be able to know the clinical record and nursing documentation, register clinical data and care provided, and fulfill bureaucratic-administrative procedures (privacy, consents).


Didactic Modalities

The teaching is articulated in frontal lessons where the theory will be exposed by the teacher.


Students will be given the opportunity for open and constructive discussion.


For certain topics, the use of Role-playing is planned.


Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (DSA), disabilities, or other educational needs are invited to contact the teacher and the reference person for disability of the School/Department at the beginning of the course to agree on any didactic modalities.

  • Screening for cervical cancer, PAP TEST, HPV TEST, COLPOSCOPY, HS, TAMPONS, ECOGRAPHY.
  • Assistance to the surgical patient.

  • Instrumental diagnostics (RX, ECO, TC, RM, ECG).
  • Bureaucratic-administrative procedures (privacy, informed consent).
  • Surgical wounds and removal of suture points.
  • Patient reception PS gynecological.

Examination Methods

The exam consists of a written test with 31 multiple-choice questions (single correct answer), covering the entire course content.


Passing criterion: at least 18 correct answers out of 31.

  • Knowledge of techniques and objectives of infection prevention methods.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and instrumental tests.
