PRESENTATION

The course aims to provide students with the notions inherent to the anatomy of the visual apparatus, which represents one of the basic knowledge in the clinical practice.

OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Educational Objectives

To know the structural organization of the visual apparatus with its main anatomical-functional applications; to recognize its essential morphological characteristics, as well as its main morpho-functional correlates.

Detailed Educational Objectives and Learning Outcomes

The course aims to provide the student with the understanding of the macro and microscopic organization and the topographic relationships between the various structures that constitute the visual apparatus. The objective is also to provide the anatomical bases for understanding the ocular physiological mechanisms.

Teaching Methods

  • The course includes 20 hours of frontal lessons, during which the teaching will use slides and videos with anatomical dissection of the ocular structures. All visual material will be available to the student also in offline mode.
  • According to Law 170/10 'New rules on specific learning disorders in the school context', support services for students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), disabilities, or other educational needs are active through the Support Services Sector for disability and students with SLD. Referent Prof. Nicola Girtler. These students are invited to contact the teacher and the referent for disability of the School/Department at the beginning of the course to agree on any didactic methods that, in respect of the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods.

EXAMS

Exam Method

Oral

Assessment Method

The exam consists of an oral test in which you are asked to address topics of anatomy of the visual apparatus present in the program and carried out in lessons. The oral exam will be evaluated in 30esimi. In addition to knowledge, the ability to use the nomenclature and terminology related to the visual apparatus in an appropriate manner will also be evaluated.

According to Law 170/10 'New rules on specific learning disorders in the school context', support services for students with specific learning disorders are active through the Support Services Sector for disability and students with SLD. Referent Prof. Nicola Girtler.
