Introduction to PROTESI-ORTESI ARTI INFERIORI

The PROTESI-ORTESI ARTI INFERIORI program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to treat pathologies and traumas of the lower limbs using orthopedic techniques.


Objectives and Contents

Educational Objectives

The program aims to enable students to design tutors, prostheses, and orthoses for various body districts, characterized by their own technical and morphofunctional peculiarities, in relation to the main neurological and orthopedic diseases. Students will also learn about the problems inherent in the processing systems of specific products for various health areas, with particular reference to the properties of the materials used and the treatment techniques.


Detailed Educational Objectives and Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to identify the most functional prosthesis for the clinical question posed, in terms of design and technical characteristics of the materials.


Teaching Methods

The program will include:


  • Frontal lessons
  • Group exercises
  • Practical tests

Program/Content

The program will cover the following topics:


  • Anatomy of the lower limb: leg, thigh, foot
  • Tutors for the hip: articulated and non-articulated
  • Knee tutor: from elastic tutor to splint, to articulated, etc. - indications
  • Ankle tutor: from simple ankle to articulated tutor - indications
  • Foot tutor - footwear - standard and custom-made silicone tutors

The teaching material will be provided by the instructor.
