Presentation

The course focuses on respiratory, cardiological, and vascular pathologies that can be treated medically and surgically. The lessons will focus on identifying signs and symptoms of the main cardiorespiratory pathologies, understanding the causal agents and pathophysiological mechanisms, defining the appropriate diagnostic process, and interpreting laboratory and instrumental exams.


Objectives and Contents

Educational Objectives

The course aims to provide students with knowledge of the main diseases of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Students should be able to recognize the pathophysiological bases, morphological alterations, and clinical manifestations of the main diseases and their complications. Additionally, students should be able to establish a diagnostic process and prognosis.


Teaching Methods

Students with certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (DSA), disabilities, or other educational needs are invited to contact the teacher and the reference person for disability at the beginning of the course to agree on any teaching methods that, while respecting the objectives of the course, take into account individual learning methods.

Exams

Examination Methods

The exam consists of an oral test with questions on topics covered during the lessons, including the discussion of clinical cases based on instrumental exams.


Assessment Methods

The learning assessment takes place through the final exam, which aims to verify the student's actual acquisition of the expected learning outcomes.


In particular, to pass the exam, the student must obtain a score of not less than 18/30 and demonstrate that they have acquired the main epidemiological and pathogenetic notions regarding cardiovascular diseases. The student must also demonstrate the ability to set up the diagnostic process for the most prevalent conditions, using clinical, instrumental, and laboratory information.
