Program Overview

Program Overview

The Course of Studies in Politics, Governance, and Sports Information aims to train qualified professionals to meet the multifaceted needs of the growing sports sector. This is achieved by providing students with a multidisciplinary and innovative education.

Course Objectives

The primary objective of this course is to equip students with the capacity for intervention, management, organization, planning, relations, and communication. These skills are essential for initiating professional paths in private and multinational companies, national and international organizations, and public entities, particularly in the sports sector.

Practical Learning

Theoretical teaching is complemented by credited seminars on current topics and professionalizing workshops. These workshops cover areas such as sports radio broadcasts, fundraising, the use of social media in sports, journalistic writing, audiovisual techniques, and video recording. Cultural exchanges are also part of the program, facilitated through international and European programs.

Professional Outcomes

Graduates of this course can pursue careers as:

  • Junior managers in associations, federations, and companies, especially in the sports sector.
  • Secretaries or administrators of companies, with a focus on the sports sector.
  • Communication and public relations consultants in the sports field.
  • Officials in public entities responsible for sports policies.

Curriculum

The course includes in-depth study of at least two European Union languages, in addition to Italian. Beyond traditional teaching, the program offers additional learning forms that enable students to interact with the external world where they will operate. This includes:

  • A wide range of conferences, seminars, and meetings with teachers and experts in the sports field.
  • Professionalizing workshops on various topics related to sports and media.
  • Cultural exchanges for teachers and students through international and European programs like LLP Erasmus, CINDA, and AVERROES.
  • Internships and traineeships in Italy and abroad.

Course Structure

The course is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of sports management and communication, including aspects of economics, history, law, language, web and new media communications, sociology, political science, geography, and anthropology.

Unique Aspects

This is the first three-year degree in Italy entirely dedicated to sports management and communication. The program is connected to the University's "Unige for Champions" project, which supports dual careers for student-athletes engaged in both academic and competitive sports. There is also an ongoing process to include the value of sports activity in the Italian Constitution.
