Objectives and Contents

Educational Objectives

The educational objectives of this course include:

• Knowing the main endocrinological and metabolic pathologies (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pancreas).
• Knowing the main rheumatic diseases with connective, articular, and bone involvement.
• Knowing infections, bacterial and viral, their transmission possibilities, and their treatment.
• Deepening the knowledge of cardiovascular pathology and learning the instrumental investigation techniques of peripheral vasculopathies.
• Knowing the demographic and epidemiological aspects of geriatrics, physiological aging, and major geriatric syndromes.
• Learning the fundamentals of foot skin diseases with particular regard to onychopathies and onychomycoses.
• Knowing the basics of laboratory medicine, blood sampling, basic tests, and reference values.

Detailed Educational Objectives and Learning Outcomes

The detailed educational objectives of this course are to give students the ability to know the elementary lesions of the main dermatological pathologies in the podological field. The most common skin diseases will also be treated in order to make diagnoses and avoid therapeutic errors. Diagnosis and correct therapeutic attitude should be the main learning outcomes.
