REUMATOLOGIA
Course Description
The Reumatologia course is part of the Corso Integrato di Dermatologia, Immunologia clinica e Reumatologia. The course aims to cover epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, differential diagnosis, and therapeutic aspects of the main rheumatological diseases.
Objectives
- The student will acquire knowledge of the main rheumatological diseases, including their epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, and therapeutic aspects.
- The student will be able to recognize the pathophysiological bases, morphological alterations, and clinical manifestations of the main diseases and their complications.
- The student will be able to establish a diagnostic approach and prognosis.
Detailed Objectives and Learning Outcomes
The course covers the epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, differential diagnosis, and therapeutic aspects of the main rheumatological diseases. The student will be able to recognize the pathophysiological bases, morphological alterations, and clinical manifestations of the main diseases and their complications, and establish a diagnostic approach and prognosis.
Prerequisites
- Knowledge of the basics of immunology and immunopathology
- Accurate knowledge of human anatomy
Teaching Methods
- Frontal lessons with the possibility of tutorial sessions at the patient's bedside or in the outpatient clinic with discussions of clinical cases
- Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (DSA), disabilities, or other educational needs are invited to contact the teacher and the reference person for disability at the beginning of the course to agree on any didactic methods that, while respecting the objectives of the teaching, take into account individual learning methods

- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis and spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, Lyme disease, acute rheumatic fever, enteropathic arthritis
- Septic arthritis
- Primary and secondary Raynaud's phenomenon
- Connectivitis: (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Systemic Sclerosis, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, Overlap Syndromes, Dermatomyositis, and Polymyositis)
- Sjogren's syndrome
- Vasculitis
- Microcrystalline and dysmetabolic arthropathies
- Osteoarthritis
- Extra-articular and soft tissue diseases
- Fibromyalgia
- Polymyalgia rheumatica
- Osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, bone and extra-osseous role of vitamin D
- Paget's bone disease
- Hereditary diseases of connective tissue

- The final exam is an oral test that verifies the student's knowledge of the program
- The exam aims to assess the student's acquisition of the expected learning outcomes
- The final grade is expressed in thirtieths and is the average of the grades of the Reumatologia, Dermatologia, and Immunologia clinica teachings, with a possible mention of praise
- The outcome is considered positive if it is at least 18/30
