Program Overview

Program Overview

The program in question is "GENERAL BIOLOGIA ED ELEMENTS DI ZOOLOGIA" (General Biology and Elements of Zoology), with the code 84005, offered during the academic year 2025/2026.

Program Details

  • CFU (University Educational Credits): The program includes 6 CFU for "METODOLOGIE PHILOSOFICHE" (Philosophical Methodologies) and 10 CFU for "SCIENZE AMBIENTALI E NATURALI" (Environmental and Natural Sciences).
  • Location: The program is based in Genoa.
  • Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of chemistry and physics is required.
  • Propaedeuticity: This course is a prerequisite for several other courses, including "ENVIRONMENTAL AND NATURAL SCIENCE 9916," "ENVIRONMENTAL BIOCHEMISTRY AND MICROBIOLOGY," "ENVIRONMENTALLY APPLIED PHYSIOLOGY," "ANIMAL PHYSIOLOGY," "EVOLUTIONARY ZOOLOGY," "BIOCHEMISTRY," "ENVIRONMENTAL MICROBIOLOGY," "PHYSIOLOGY," and "ENVIRONMENTAL CAMPAIGN."

Course Structure

The program is composed of two main modules:

  • GENERAL BIOLOGY (General Biology)
  • SYSTEMATIC ZOOLOGY (Systematic Zoology)

Teaching Materials

Teaching materials are available on AULAWEB.

Presentation

The study of the origin, organization, and evolution of living systems is one of the main challenges for modern science. In an era of global changes, knowledge of the diversity of living organisms is essential for evaluating the trajectory and extent of changes for proper environmental management.

Objectives and Contents

The program aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of biological systems, focusing on their origin, organization, and evolution. Prerequisites include basic chemistry and physics knowledge.

Faculty and Commissions

The program is led by Professor GIORGIO BAVESTRELLO. Student reception will be arranged directly with the professor.

Exams

  • Exam Methodology: The exam will be conducted on a topic freely chosen by the student. The final grade will consider the competence and language properties with which the topic is presented. The basis for the grading will be the average of the partial exams of the three modules that compose the course.
  • Exam Calendar:
    • 19/01/2026, 09:30, Genoa, Written and Oral
    • 02/09/2026, 09:30, Genoa, Written and Oral
