ANATOMIA PATOLOGICA

Course Description

The course aims to achieve three main objectives:

1. To introduce the role of Anatomia Patologica in the context of care pathways and processes.
2. To define the role of the pediatric nurse in this context, emphasizing the concept of professionalism and responsibility.
3. To familiarize students with the basics of anatomo-pathological, cytological, histological, and bioptic diagnostics in "Surgical Pathology" for correct dialogue between the nurse and professionals, as well as with patients' families.

Educational Objectives

• Know the main intrinsic causes of disease.
• Understand the main hereditary and congenital diseases.
• Recognize the morphological and functional characteristics of neoplastic cells.
• Identify the main causes of cellular damage.
• Comprehend the causes of inflammation, the phases of inflammation, and the main acute and chronic inflammations.

Detailed Educational Objectives and Learning Outcomes

The general objectives of the teaching in the context of the Integrated Course aim to provide basic knowledge of Anatomia Patologica in the main sectors of inflammatory, infectious, degenerative, and dystrophic pathology, as well as the basics and principles of oncology.

Teaching Methods

• Frontal Teaching Activity: The program is carried out in 6 lessons for a total of 1 CFU.
• Teratology Laboratory: The program is developed over three years, with two annual meetings, each lasting 5 hours.
• Autopsy Diagnostic Activity: Participation in a diagnostic autopsy performed on a fetus of gestational age not less than 18 weeks or on a newborn.
• Technique of Histopathological Diagnosis: Direct experiential contact with the coloration of a cytological preparation, sampling of surgical material, inclusion of material, microtomy of the included material block, and coloration of the histological section.

• Staging of neoplasms.
• Indications for intraoperative examination.
• Grade of differentiation of neoplasms.
• Histopathology and Surgical Pathology.
• Ancillary techniques in Anatomia Patologica.
• The diagnostic autopsy.
• Thanatology.
• Teratology.
• Principles of embryology.
• Cardiovascular apparatus.
• Respiratory apparatus.
• Uropoietic apparatus.
• Nervous system.
