Program Overview
Program Details
The program in question is the "Storia della Pedagogia e dell'Educazione" (History of Pedagogy and Education) offered by the University of Genoa.
Objectives and Contents
The primary objective of the course is to provide students with specific knowledge and interpretive tools to understand how the history of education is intrinsically linked to every aspect of civil life. The course will focus on the main theories of education that have engaged generations of thinkers over the centuries and will provide methodological indications for the retrieval, analysis, interpretation, and subsequent insertion of educational models into a specific context.
Educational Objectives
The course aims to develop critical tools for interpreting education not only as the transmission of knowledge but also as a symbolic and cultural space where social dynamics are reflected, reproduced, and sometimes transformed.
Teaching Methods
The lessons are conducted in the presence of the teacher, who integrates different approaches and participatory methods, such as group activities and projects, and in-depth seminars.
Program/Content
The course explores the role of education and school in the processes of constructing individual and collective identities. Particular attention will be paid to how educational institutions have contributed to defining categories such as gender, cultural belonging, otherness, and citizenship.
