Program Overview

Introduction to the ANATOMIA 2 Program

The ANATOMIA 2 program, codified as 80240, is part of the academic offerings for the 2025/2026 academic year. It is specifically designed for students in the second year of the MEDICINA E CHIRURGIA 8745 (LM-41) course at the University of Genoa.

Program Details

  • Academic Year: 2025/2026
  • CFU: 6
  • Sector: BIO/16
  • Language: Italian
  • Location: Genova
  • Period: 1° Semestre

Prerequisites and Propedeuticity

  • Prerequisites: Knowledge of human nervous tissue.
  • Propedeuticity in Entrance: Students must have passed the exams for MEDICINA E CHIRURGIA 8745 (coorte 2024/2025) and ANATOMIA UMANA.
  • Propedeuticity in Exit: This course is propedeutic for MEDICINA E CHIRURGIA 8745 (coorte 2024/2025) and FISIOLOGIA UMANA 2 61193.

Educational Objectives

The objectives of the ANATOMIA 2 program are to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the structural organization of the human body, particularly focusing on the nervous and endocrine systems. Students are expected to recognize the morphological characteristics of these systems and their principal anatomical-clinical correlations.

Detailed Educational Objectives and Learning Outcomes

The program aims to equip students with the knowledge necessary for understanding the morpho-functional organization of the nervous and endocrine systems. This includes the mechanisms by which these systems perform their functions within the human organism and the comprehension of basic mechanisms through which the nervous system receives, integrates, and elaborates signals.

Teaching Methods

  • The didactic activity will consist of frontal lessons where, with the use of visual aids, all the topics required for the final verification will be illustrated and discussed with the students.
  • Support services for students with Specific Learning Disorders (DSA), disabilities, or other educational needs are available through the Disability Support Services sector.

Program Content

The program covers neuroanatomy, including:

  • Introduction to the Nervous System (SN)
  • Embryonic development of the SN
  • Meninges, ventricles, and barriers of the SN
  • Spinal cord and spinal nerves
  • Brainstem and cranial nerves
  • Cerebellum
  • Diencephalon
  • Telencephalon
  • The afferent compartment
  • The efferent compartment
  • The endocrine system, including the epiphysis, hypophysis, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal gland, pancreatic islets, and the endocrine function of the kidney and the feto-placental unit.
