Program Overview
Accident/Incident Investigation Program
Introduction
Investigating accidents is a vital tool in understanding what caused an accident, identifying improvements, and preventing future accidents. The ability to observe and question is key to identifying the root causes. This course will help participants investigate accidents fully with a view to saving future injuries, lost time, and financial costs.
Aims
The primary aim of this program is to give delegates the tools and methodologies to effectively investigate an accident, incident, or near miss.
Objectives
Upon completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Confidently investigate an accident, incident, or near miss and produce a report that leads to preventative measures.
- Gain sufficient understanding of industry best practice tools and methods to allow the attendee to investigate in accordance with the University of Reading Safety Code of Practice 9.
Target Audience
This program is designed for Health & Safety Co-ordinators and anyone who needs to review accidents and record the outcomes of an investigation.
Pre-Course Preparation
Participants are required to bring a copy of an accident, incident, or near miss from their department.
