BSc Food Business and Marketing with Placement Year
The BSc Food Business and Marketing with Placement Year course is designed to prepare students for a commercial career in the food industry. This four-year course includes an integrated, year-long work placement between the second and final year, providing students with valuable industry experience.
Overview
This course will prepare students for the food industry of the future by providing training in business, management, and marketing. Students will explore the key challenges facing UK, European, and global food businesses, gain an understanding of current issues in the food sector, and develop valuable digital marketing skills.
Structure
The course is divided into four years, with the third year spent on a work placement. The compulsory and optional modules for each year are as follows:

Entry Requirements
- A Level: BBB
- International Baccalaureate: 30 points overall
- BTEC Extended Diploma: DDM
- English language requirements: IELTS 6.5, with no component below 5.5
Fees
- New UK/Republic of Ireland students: £9,790 (2026 entry)
- New international students: £25,850 (2026/27)
- Placement year fees: 15% of the usual tuition fee
Careers
Graduates from this course will possess a range of specialist and transferable skills required by the food industry. They will be well-placed to move into key business roles within the food industry and other sectors, including marketing, brand management, category management, retail management, supply chain management, sales, buying, policy analysis, product development, and start-up businesses.
Accreditation
This course is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) as an Accredited Degree, enabling graduates to receive exemptions from CIM qualifications.
