Program Overview
Introduction to the RED Global Engagement Award
The RED Global Engagement Award is a program designed to help individuals become more globally engaged. The award is completed in several stages, which are outlined below.
Completing the RED Global Engagement Award
To complete the award, participants must follow a series of steps.
Stage 1: Registration
To register for the award, participants must:
- Log in to their online account
- Click the 'Search' tab and select 'Pathways'
- Select the RED Global Engagement Award pathway
- Click 'Start'
Once registered, participants can begin logging their activities.
Stage 2: Points Submission
To complete the award, participants must earn at least 25 points by completing a range of globally and culturally focused activities. Points are allocated based on the activity's level and time commitment. Participants can backdate activities completed since starting at the university.
Stage 3: Reflection
For each point claimed, participants must write a short reflection of at least 100 words explaining the nature of their activity and how it made them more globally engaged. The reflection should be:
- Personal
- Specific to their experience
- Explain how it has helped them as an individual
Stage 4: Global Engagement Advocacy
This stage provides an opportunity for participants to demonstrate how they are promoting respect for diversity, open-mindedness, cultural learning, and awareness of global issues. Participants can choose how to present their advocacy, such as:
- A poster talk or conference presentation
- A university or external conference
- Speaking at an online or in-person forum
- Creating social media content
- Writing a blog, podcast, or reflection
- A paragraph explaining the award's value in a cover letter or interview context
Stage 5: Award Completion
Once all steps are completed, including submitting points, reflections, and advocacy, the RED Awards Team will review the submission. If successful, participants will receive a RED Global Engagement Award Certificate, and their achievement will be recorded on their university profile and included in their graduation brochure.
Program Requirements
Participants must complete all stages of the award, including submitting their points, reflections, advocacy, and a final survey. The RED Awards Team will review submissions and provide feedback. Participants must also write their reflections and advocacy sections themselves, without using AI-generated content.
