Program Overview


BSc Food Business and Marketing with International Foundation Year

The BSc Food Business and Marketing with International Foundation Year is a four-year undergraduate degree designed for international students who wish to pursue a career in the food industry. This program enables students to undertake an undergraduate food marketing and business economics degree at a British university, even if they do not have the correct qualifications.


Overview

This program is designed for international students who are interested in a commercial career with a connection to food. Students will study in a school that is the highest placed UK university for Agriculture and Forestry, ranked 20th in the world according to the QS World Rankings by Subject.


Structure

The program consists of a foundation year (called Year 0) followed by a three-year BSc Food Business and Marketing degree. The foundation year provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their undergraduate studies.


Compulsory Modules

  • Mathematics Foundation: Gain a fundamental understanding of the role of basic mathematics in biological and chemical sciences.
  • An Introduction to Business Management: Enhance your ability to think critically, organise your thoughts logically, and argue persuasively in business and management contexts.
  • Foundation Economics - Microeconomics: Discover how individuals and companies allocate and utilise resources.
  • Foundation Economics - Macroeconomics: Learn models and theories used by economists to understand the performance of the economy.

Optional Modules

  • Agricultural Production Systems: Explore the exciting and complex process of primary food production.
  • Consumer Attitudes and Behaviour: Explore the theoretical perspectives and psychological factors that influence consumer demand for goods and services.
  • Digital Marketing: Study the insights and competencies that enable companies to get the most out of digital media and achieve marketing goals.

Entry Requirements

  • A Level: See entry requirements
  • AS and A Levels: 72 UCAS tariff points.
  • International Baccalaureate: 24 points from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or International Baccalaureate Certificate.
  • GCSE: Grades 94 (A*C) in five subjects, or equivalent qualifications.
  • IELTS: A minimum overall score of 5.5 in IELTS, with no component below 5.5.

Fees

  • New UK/Republic of Ireland students: 」23,000 for 2026/27 Foundation year, then rising to the standard course fees for the duration of your bachelor's level study.
  • New international students: 」23,000 for 2026/27 Foundation year, then rising to the standard course fees for the duration of your bachelor's level study.

Careers

As a graduate of this course, you will leave with a range of specialist and transferable skills, including tools for market and business analysis, qualitative and quantitative research enquiry, and an understanding of consumer behaviour and marketing and business strategy.
