Program Overview

The 11th grade Building Science camp is a weeklong program hosted by the Auburn University McWhorter School of Building Science. It is designed for rising 11th grade students interested in the field of Construction Management.


Program Details

  • The program will take place from May 26 to 29, 2026.
  • Participants will learn from McWhorter School of Building Science faculty and current students about construction materials and methods, and how to plan and safely manage a construction project.
  • The program includes lectures, classroom-based exercises, and hands-on experience opportunities.
  • Participants will work together to build a storage shed for a Habitat for Humanity house with guidance and direction from faculty.

Camp Experience

  • Camp participants will experience campus-life while residing in Auburn's resident dormitories, eating at campus dining facilities, and enjoying evening social and recreational activities.
  • Participants will have 24/7 counselor supervision.
  • Cell phone usage will not be allowed during classroom lectures or hands-on experiences, but will be permitted during non-instructional time.

Application and Admission

  • The application for the camp closes at 11:59am CST on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
  • Decisions will be released in mid-March, and for those accepted, payment will be due by EOB on Wednesday, April 1.
  • To apply, students must complete the online application in full, which includes basic information, three short answer questions, and uploading a high school transcript as well as a letter of recommendation.
  • Typically, 20 students are selected for the Building Science Camp.
  • The selection committee looks for applicants who have a strong interest in the field of Construction Management, and clearly communicate their interest in learning more about the field through their short answer questions.

Camp Fees

  • The camp fees are $880 and include:
    • On-campus housing
    • All meals, snacks, and drinks while at camp
    • Program instruction, materials, and equipment
    • Transportation to and from off-campus field-trip sites
    • Recreational activities

  • The Scholarship Application for CADC camps will close at 11:59am CST on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
